This song is about trying to support someone with depression. I hope it is helpful to others, both those strugglinh with depression and their loved ones trying to support them.
This is one of my favourite recordings thus far. It was a poor mix but Martin made it awesome and we added a new drum track (I’m having a lot of fun playing with Hydrogen).
This is a bit of a cheesy song in the vein of a relationship gone sour. See what you think 🙂 It’s meant to be overly dramatic, love your feedback! Full details on Martin’s post or you can download it here.
So one of the little projects I’ve started is to look at awesome music that I can play with and remix. Luckily for me my favourite musician, Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails and more recently How to Destroy Angels) put some of his stuff out under Creative Commons, so my first remix took 3 instrumentals from the Ghosts album and worked them into a single structured song, then added lyrics and a relatively echo-y vocal track to blend in with the mood of the song. Lyrics and further details below.
This is also my first time using Soundcloud 🙂 Would love your feedback on the music and on Soundcloud.
Thunder (2010) – written whilst driving in the car, recording upon arriving home, and needs some work and more lyrics, but needed to capture the idea. Audio (ogg/mp3) | Lyrics
Tar (2010) – pretty raw song about supporting someone with depression. [UPDATE – rerecording here] | Lyrics
Burning bridges (~1997) – old slightly dodgy recording, but lots of good layering and harmonies. Will redo someday. Audio (mp3) | Lyrics
Who farted (~2001) – a collaboration with my good friend at the time Steve, influenced by a Far Side cartoon. Audio (on Youtube) | LyricsNB – listening before reading the lyrics highly recommended.

The latest song from Martin and I, this one was written and recorded late last year. I basically went for a slightly sexy sound as it has a form of seduction at the heart of it. On this recording I did guitar, vocals and the drum sequencing, Martin did bass and harmonica.
This is a decent demo version and we are still working on an acoustic recording. Would love your comments 🙂
Recording: MP3 (hosted on Martin’s site) | Lyrics to come
Have re-recorded Shadow in the Light (was Thunder, but not AC/DC ;).
This song was composed in the whilst driving through the sort of storm where you can’t see the car in front of you (in my head of course, both hands on the wheel), and then finalised when I got home. It’s an acoustic recording with just one guitar and voice, but it’s meant to be a basic, clean and thoughtful song drawing on the parallels between fluctuations of the environment and the mind.
