  1. While the GNOME Foundation media spokesman Jeff Waugh claimed recently that Miguel de Icaza has no official role in the GNOME project anymore, it is common to see long posts from De Icaza on the Planet GNOME website. This site is meant for GNOME developers.

    what. a. tool.

  2. This guy really has a problem. I mean for heaven’s sake, it’s just a desktop environment. Get some perspective. Have a little lie down. Remember to breathe.

I really don’t know why anybody will publish his stuff. I’ve stopped bothering to follow any links to itwire.com in the last month or so. He’s tainted the whole domain with his bizarre GNOME-as-Judas ranting. I’m as big a freedom zealot as anybody, and I haven’t been able to find anything seriously warranting alarm in any of his accusations.

His personal attacks on Jeff are just off the scale. I can’t think of anybody in the free software / open source world who deserves this kind of contempt (with the obvious exception of ESR, thus proving the rule), much less someone who in a world of the single-minded and socially awkward (guilty!), is I think fairly well-respected for being consistently approachable, reasonable, and good-humoured.

It’s all just so weird and extreme that I can’t help thinking that there’s something really sad and distressing going on, so the only considerate thing to do for the sake of the author is to look away..

  3. Thanks for the comment Matthew, I think a lot of people are on the same page as you. By the way, I really like your blog 🙂 You should get it added to planet.linux.org.au
