Things not to do when busy #1 – go to hospital

Today, on the eve of our launch of the Open Source industry & community Census report I got a pretty nasty kidney infection that has been brewing for almost a week and a half, and had to go to hospital for most of the day (about 9 hours) for intravenous antibiotics and serious pain killers. Jeff was left holding the fort and finishing stuff off for tomorrow. Not a great day!

I’m ok, and on more antibiotics and pain killers for a few days, and I guess a few weeks of absolute rabid work just caught up with me. We’ll see how I go tomorrow, and hopefully I can stay out of hospital :/

That sounds nasty, hope you get well soon! I’m look forward to seeing the official results (I like graphs :) .

Keep up the great work (but not too much)!

  2. Oh, noes. I hope you really are okay and don’t have to sell one of Jeff’s kidneys on the black market to buy a replacement for yourself.

Good luck for tomorrow, in any case. Hope it goes really well, Pia. :-)

    Pippka,
Sorry to hear about the bad timing of your kidney ouchie ;-(
Take it easy for a few minutes. Breathe!
And don’t forget the pro-biotics with the anit-biotics! Lactobacillis — yoghurt or the pills.
    peace, love and Penguins!

  5. Sorry to hear you’ve been so sick Pia. :(

I hope you’re on the mend.

  6. Mary says:

    Get well soon!

I second the pro-biotic recommendation. I have some at home that I can give you if you like (they’re only really useful when you’re on antibiotics, so they’re just sitting in the fridge waiting for me to get sick again…)

Hope you feel better soon! Take it easy!

  8. Fred says:

Really sorry to hear. Wish you prompt recovery.

Thanks everyone! You all rock. Also thank you to Elli and Kat, who kept me company, to Jeff who kept the Census report progressing and to panadeine forte, a true friend in times of need.

  10. Daniel Smith says:

    Eeek!

    Take care, get better soon!

Another vote of support for the pro-biotics, get stuck into the yoghurt
when you finish your course of antibiotics.

Hope you’re feeling well enough to make it to the launch.

Yeah, you do that — stay out of hospital. It’s a bad place to stay. For one, you can’t rock on in hospital so well.

thank you to … panadeine forte

I was about to say you have your reason there — “panadeine forte”. But then I remembered that’s the liver, not kidneys. Take care of them both, anyway :)

    Get well, pipka.
